Last payday was bill-paying-payday. I actually find the process of writing checks and updating my budget very soothing. I feel like I’ve accomplished something when I’m finished.
And for a little sprinkle of good-news…British Airways refunded our tickets, and the check has been safely deposited to my savings account.

If you don’t read Post Secret every week, then you’re missing out. The picture above is one of this week’s gems.
I’m in the process of negotiating a payraise, and it is not fun.
I’m in a unique position because I’ve technically already taken on the responsibilties of the new position in addition to those of my current position.
I was just offered an amount below the range that my employer said was the average for the position, when I should be at the high end of the range because:
- I have an MBA
- I’ve proven I can handle the job responsibilities plus some.
Any negotiation tips? Anyone been successful persuading an employer that you’re worth more? At what point do you suck it up and take the offer? At what point do you put on your walking shoes?
TV is Expensive -
April 12, 2007
I’m one of those crazy people that doesn’t have cable. In fact, I haven’t had cable for two years, and I rely on free wi-fi to access the internet. I’m not a martyr, I’m not trying to reduce my carbon footprint, and I don’t think television corrupts the youth of today. I’m just cheap, and apparantly the folks at The Simple Dollar are too, because they came up with ten financial reasons to turn off your television.
-
Cable bills are outrageous

I’ve been tagged by Frugal Guy to participate in a short meme, and I’m uber excited, because that means I have at least one reader! All I have to do is write a short post about one thing I do well and one thing I do poorly with respect to saving and spending money.
I think that I do very well saving. My ING account is set up to automatically get a cut of my paycheck, and I’ve consistantly upped that amount based on raises and the money I have made from my websites.
I think I do very poorly saving. I tend to over-save, and then have to transfer money back to my checking to pay a bill. It’s really no skin off my nose, but it shows an aspect of my budget that I need to tighten up.
Meme Guidelines
1. Write a blog post based on this meme’s theme. See above.
2. At the top of your post please link to the Frugal Living Meme post and mention that you are participating in the meme.
3. Feel free to add a comment (I’m not sure about blogspot and trackbacks, but I have removed the “nofollow” tag from my template for the comment URL field).
4. Also, please link back to the person that tagged you for this meme, if anyone did, in order to return the favor of their tag link to you. It’s not necessary to be tagged in order to participate.
5. Tag some other bloggers to get them to write about their own spending habits. It’s certainly okay to participate even if you are new at blogging and are not yet comfortable tagging anyone. I think just about everyone has good and bad monetary habits, so this meme should not be limited to only frugality bloggers.
My Tags
I’m going to take some of the blogs I read on a regular basis. Fingers crossed that they participate.

Frugal Guy seems a little torn about PayPerPost and how PayPerPost will effect his blog. I just had to chime in by leaving a comment on his entry, because I’ve made (and I just calculated this morning) $3,500 online since August.
I use various paid to blog services, like Blogsvertise, CREAMaid, and Loud Launch, but my personal favorite (and the first service I signed up for) is PayPerPost.
I disclose my paid advertising on all of my blogs, and although I may talk about things I wouldn’t have prior to the paid opportunity, I think those opportunties I do take expand my blog’s horizons and add to the depth of topics. It is my personal policy not to take anything I can’t relate back to my everyday life and doesn’t fit within my blog niche.
Besides putting some cash in my pocket, PayPerPost has also helped increase the visibility of my blog. My page rank has shot up, the number of people visiting my blog every day has increased, and the number of “Postie” blogs I visit on a regular basis is a mile long.
If you want to be part of PayPerPost, I can help you make $7.50 right off the bat. Click the button below to sign up and a special $7.50 opportunity will be created just for you to review this entry. And in the spirit of full-disclosure, I make $7.50 too if you review my post.
