That was quick.

So, my boyfriend and I got married in Las Vegas last week, and here’s a little breakdown on the cost…
| Item | Cost |
| Airfare | $300 |
| Hotel | $400 |
| Rings | $1,700 |
| Dress/Shoes | $150 |
| Chapel | $290 |
| Pictures | $80 |
| Food/Cabs/Tips | $400 |
| $3,320 |
I was in Las Vegas a portion of the time for work, so my company paid for my airfare ($400), six nights at Paris Hotel ($2,000+), and the majority of the food for six days. Our total is much better than the average $28,000 Americans pay for a wedding! Our goal is to add the reception costs to the above figure and stay under $10,000.
I’m really proud of my alma mater, Ball State University. They have added a section to the Daily New Online called Finance 101 that is a five-part series on understanding the fundamentals of personal finance.
Each of the five parts can be downloaded and printed for easy reading and reference.
Go BSU!
I’m going to break all the personal finance rules, and say that when you’re in Vegas, you just have to gamble!
I obviously not a big money gambler. I lost $45 on Saturday, but I’ve doubled my money the past two nights, which means I’m only down $5. We have the most fun playing the penny slots and taking advantage of the free drinks. Â
Going out to eat is one big expense that is very easy to control once you find recipes that you love and are enjoyable to prepare at home. A quick search for one of my favorite ingredients, artichokes, brings up penne pasta with artichokes and chicken cream sauce, which is very similar to a dish I order at a local eatery for $15 a plate! Now I can make a whole batch of it and eat leftovers for a week for around $10.
I haven’t been spending much money, which is very good.
I apologize for my life (and blogs) being consumed by my trip to Las Vegas, but I ordered room service for the first time ever last night, and while it was fabulous, I wouldn’t be spending $45 on two cheeseburgers, fries, and pop if my company wasn’t paying for it.
