PS - Broke as a Spoke now has a Facebook page! Check it out!
Halloween is my absolutely favorite holiday, and I’ve been known to drop a good chunk of change on decorations and costumes, but not this year. Halloween is going to be easy on my pocket book with the sale at Online Discount Mart.
The solar powered gargoyle is a must for my collection of spooky holiday decor. Come night, his eyes glow green…the same color as the $15 you save by ordering him now!
I just read how Leona Helmsly’s will played out. The “Queen of Mean” left $12 million to her dog, but gave nothing to her 2 step-children.
Here’s how it played out…
- Trouble (the white fluff ball of a dog) gets $12 million
- Leona’s brother, Alvin Rosenthal, will care for Touble in her absence and get a few million of his own for doing so
- Two grandchildren, born to her late son Jay Panzirer, receive a $5 million each, as long as they visit their father’s grave once a year
- Her step-children got nothing. Quoting Joan Crawford, Leona said that Craig and Meegan Panzirer will receive nothing for “reasons that are known to themâ€
- Leona’s chauffeur, Nicholas Celea, received $100,000
Let me just tell you, I’ll visit anyone’s grave, as often as she’d like, for $5 million.
Links = Money -
August 31, 2007
Since my blogs are monetized, seach engine optimization and link building is vital to the success or failure of my websites. The more links I have coming in, the more readers I attract, the higher paying opportunities advertisers offer me.
Link building is so important because Google’s PageRank is the definitive website rating, and the amount and quality of the links leading to my sites factor into a logarithm too complicated for me to comprehend, but important enough that advertisers determined my worth by my Page Rank.

Submit A Website was started in 1997 as a basic search engine submission company, helping businesses and individuals get their name out. Since then, they have evolved in a complete search engine marketing company offering SEO, link building, PR, and detailed analysis to companies.
Good Dog Hotel -

I picked up Oliver this afternoon, and his stay at the Good Dog Hotel was almost as expensive as our stay at the Flamingo in Las Vegas.
Secret Shoppers -
August 30, 2007
I have experience on both sides of working with a secret shopping service.
When I was in college I made very good money through a secret shopping service. I was a shopper for Best Mark and they would assign a date and time to shop at a particular business, a list of questions to ask or a specific product to purchase, and key customer service aspects I was to observe. When I was finished with my shop, I would complete a survey about my experience or the product I tested and submit it to Best Mark.
When I worked in retail and secret shoppers visited my store, Best Mark would analyze the results of the shop and supply me with a detailed report of the shopper’s experience. The results allowed my company to guage how our customer service practices, customer satisfaction, wait time, and so on so that we could improve or expand on our practices to increase our revenue and long-term customers.
August 29 thru 30 -

We put $5 into a slot machine this morning and turned it into $70. Not too shabby!
- $33 Paris buffet
- $33 Treasure Island buffet
Hey…it’s cheaper to pay for a buffet than a sit down dinner, so don’t judge.
I was in Chicago last Friday during all the storms, and it was the most powerful wind and rain I’ve seen in a log time. My husband and I were both very nervous by the amount of rain, because we have a basement apartment. Everyone in my family was very lucky, because there was no basement flooding, but lots of people suffered major damage to their homes which is going to cost a small fortune to repair.
Having a copany like American Waterproofing, which is experience in New York basement waterproofing in all five New York boroughs would really put our minds at ease. Water damage doesn’t stop at a web basement, it also damages the foundation, carpeting, and insulation, invites insects like termites and carpenter aunts, can cause problems with the electrical system of your home, including the threat of electrical shock, but all that can be avoided if your basement is properly protected.
