I have decided that the amount of money I save at Wal-Mart in no way justifies having to deal with the people that shop there and the associates that work there.
Our Wal-Mart on the south side of Indianapolis is absolutely atrocious. People are dirty, rude, and their children are growing up to be just like them. The cashier’s never say hello, don’t tell you your total, and God forbid they say thank you or have a nice day.
No more Wal-Mart for me!

My sister and I made a trip to the outlets last night, and got some great deals. We had 15-20% off coupons everywhere we shopped, which saved us a ton. I even picked up two Christmas presents and a birthday present.
- $60 GAP
- 2 pairs of pants
- 1 sweater
- 1 dress shirt
- $60 Puma
- $80 Banana Republic
- 2 women’s sweaters
- 2 men’s sweaters
- $20 Coach
- 2 keychains (Christmas presents)
I also got a new purse from Coach as a Christmas advance from my parents.
Is it possible to find a dish scrubber that doesn’t leak? I’m going to need Botox for migraines because I get so worked up about soap leaking all over my counter.
Not only am I wasting money on scrubbers, I’m wasting money on dish soap! I think I’ve bought every variation of dish scrubber that Target and the Dollar Store carries, and every single one makes a mess. I guess that’s why my mom still uses a dish rag!
Condo for Sale -
October 26, 2007
My husband and I almost took the plunge this month and purchased real estate. A friend got a job in another city and is putting her brand new condo on the market and offered us the opportunity to purchase it before she listed it with a real estate agent. After much discussion we decided that we just don’t know where we want to be in 2 years or 5 years, so it wasn’t wise to purchase something that we might not be able to sell when we are ready to pack up and move.
Bridging Funds -
October 26, 2007
I learned something new today while browsing financing websites. Bridging is the act of accelerating access to funds that are due to you at a future date, and companies like Smartbridge, out of South Africa, specialize in bridging.
Say that you’re trying to selling a property, but outstanding taxes are prohibiting the finalization of the sale. Smartbridge will advance you a portion of the sale price necessary to pay the taxes and complete the sale.
Their rates seem reasonable, at 2.95% daily, considering it’s an advance on money you have coming to you anyway, which should proceed quickly. A calculator is even available to figure your daily cost of bridging.
Anyone else ever heard of bridging before? Have you done it? What is your experience.
Tax Increase -
October 26, 2007
When I checked my bank account this morning, I noticed that my direct deposit wasn’t the same amount it always is, so I logged into iPayStatements to take a look at my pay stub, and was surprised to see that the county tax had increased without notice, thus lowering my paycheck by approximately $15 a paycheck.
$15 may not be much, but it covers my gas to and from work for two entire weeks, so I’m not exactly thrilled to contribute to the county’s bank account.
Whether you have a private student loan or a government student loan, you can still take advantage of student loan consolidation, like I did.
When I graduated college, interest rates on student loans were at their lowest in years, so I knew I had to get the paperwork started for a student loan consolidation. I knew that consolidating before my six month deferral period was over would require payments to start immediately, but it was well worth it.
By processing my consolidation when I did, I locked in interest rates under 3% on $20,000 worth of student loans. That greatly reduced my payment amount and the time frame necessary to become free of student loan debt.
If you’re graduating mid-term, now is the time to start considering student loan consolidation and educate yourself on the benefits of consolidating
