Your eBay item didn’t sell - June 28, 2008 by Corrin

Well, eBay Day isn’t going so great.

My husband’s laptop is broken, and he hoped to make enough from the sale of his textbooks to pay for new computer memory and whatever else is needed to get him back up and running, but so far we’ve made less than $100.

Do we relist, or cut our loses?

Women & Money by Suze Orman - June 28, 2008 by Corrin

51QNnDcN8kLI absolutely love Suze Orman. Her advice makes a lot of sense, I like her delivery, and she’s very relatable. She writes a monthly advice column for O Magazine , and after a recent appearance on Oprah, she offered her book Women & Money free for download for a limited time. I was able to nab it, but wasn’t able to blog about it in time.

If you’re interested in receiving the PDF, just leave a comment with your email address, and I will email it to you!

Stolen Credit Card - June 28, 2008 by Corrin

I always thought I did a good job of keeping my personal information under wraps, but as of Thursday, I’m officially a victim of credit card theft.

I’m one of those anal people that checks my bank account every morning to see what cleared, and noticed a PayPal transaction for $87.82. I then logged into PayPal and saw that there was no record of the purchase. Usually if something hits my checking account marked PayPal, it means that I didn’t have enough money in my PayPal account and portion was taken out of each account. Not so in this case.

PayPal didn’t have any record of the purchase initially, but after searching through their records by my cell phone number, they pulled up the original purchase, which was in Euros. The thief could have been buying horse supplements for all I know, because I had never heard of the company and I certainly didn’t purchase anything in Euros, and how the purchase bypassed PayPal and went straight to my checking, no one knows.

Anyway, both PayPal and my bank were very helpful. My debit cards were cancelled and both have sent the issue to claims and I should have the money refunded by Tuesday.

Now to figure out what I did, or didn’t, do that put my information at risk!

June 27 - June 27, 2008 by Corrin
  • $276 auto shop
  • $59 Old Navy

My husband’s car was due for it’s 30,000 mile maintenance, and since we’re going to be keeping the car for quite some time, we went ahead with all the recommended maintenance that he can’t do himself.

I also had a weak moment and placed an Old Navy order thanks to a 50% off email.

New Home Owners - June 26, 2008 by Corrin

I don’t want to get my hopes up, but it looks like our lives may be revolving around bathroom fixtures, lawn mowers, and paint colors this spring because my husband and I are looking to buy a house!

We have our hearts set on moving somewhere warm one day, but for right now, my husband is in the running for a job with very good pay and benefits for his field. The mortgages on houses we are interested in will be less than the rent we are currently paying, which makes it hard to deny the benefits of putting down roots.

We’re now working double time to pay down debt and save enough for a small down payment.

June 21 thru 26 - June 26, 2008 by Corrin

Whoa…that’s a lot of spending in five days. That includes a trip to Indianapolis, stocking up on non-perishables at Costco, and a video game and heating pad at Target. We’re now going to stay home and play Boom Blox till payday.

eBay Day - June 21, 2008 by Corrin

Today is an eBay day. My husband finished his paramedic training a few weeks ago and received his certification, so it is time to get rid of the stack of textbooks that have been sitting in the office.

If you’re in the market for some medical textbooks, visit my listings! The books are all in great condition, and they are your passport to becoming a paramedic!
