September 28 thru 30 - September 30, 2008
  • $120 Target
  • $22 CVS

We went a little crazy at Target this weekend. We bought the 30th anniversary School House Rocks DVD, boxes to ship eBay sales, dog treats, vacation toiletries, and fat burners because neither of our pants fit.

Land’s End Shipping Costs - September 28, 2008

I almost placed an order with Land’s End this morning for a new bathing suit for vacation. Almost.

When I got to checkout, I realized that standard shipping is $18.95. Priority is $23.95. I had to adjust the lighting to make sure I was seeing correct! Plus, neither shipping method guarantees my swimsuit would arrive by vacation!

I was shocked. I closed my browser and decided that the bathing suit I have will have to due. That’s obscene. $18.95 to ship a few skimpy swimsuits that weight less than a pound.

September 26 thru 27 - September 28, 2008

Yesterday was a busy day with a trip to the apple orchard with my mom and cousins, then a late night trip to the grocery to get just enough food to last until we leave for Disney World next weekend.

When we booked out Disney trip, we added the Disney Dining Plan, which includes all of our meals at up to a 30% discount for booking in advance! That means that our entire tip is paid for, and we will be spending minimal cash on vacation (we’ll still need souvenirs and booze)!

No Brainer - September 26, 2008

I don’t like renting. You can’t paint, you can’t personalize, and you can’t put up blinds, which drives me crazy because one of the first things my mom always did when we moved into a new house, was order custom blinds. Not only are they practical, keeping out the hot sun in the summer and keeping in the heat in the winter, they are a security measure and decoration.

No Brainer Blinds are a no brainer because they do all those things, plus they are easy to order and install at a reasonable price. There are videos to help you measure, free color samples, customer support to answer questions and offer recommendations, a 110% low price guarantee, and install in less than ten minutes with NO tools.

Blinds are a no brainer for my mom, and they’ll be a no brainer for me…as soon as we get into our own house!

$700 billion = 2,000 Apple Pies - September 26, 2008

I am not a fan of the $700 billion bail out plan and knowing that the money could buy 2,000 McDonald’s apple pies for every US citizen does not make me understand the logic any further. It does make me hungry, though.

How ridiculous.

September 24 thru 25 - September 26, 2008

My husband had 55 extra hours on this paycheck, and we think we’re rich!

  • $67 Dickies
  • $86 Shoe Carnival
  • $120 Target
  • $35 TJ Maxx

Actually, everything we bought was pretty sensible. New shoes, blankets, dog food, socks, work pants, and sunblock and snacks for vacation. It’s just nice to have extra money to buy those kind of quasi-necessities. Next paycheck, winter coats!

Six Sigma - September 25, 2008

I work for a small company and since I’ve been hired, they’ve made a concerted effort to get their ducks in a row. I was the first new employee from years, and coming from a corporate background they thought that it was a good time to implement some of those big business methods.

Six Sigma Training is one of those bottom line efforts that can help grow our business while others are just trying to sustain in a tough economy. The training teaches businesses how to streamline day-to-day activities, operate more efficiently, analyze revenue sources, and increase customer satisfaction.

It’s big business training that applies to any business.
