7 Places That Tempt Me To Spend -

Trent Hamm from The Simple Dollar blogged about 7 places that tempt him to spend so I thought I’d list my 7.
GAP/Banana Republic/Old Navy 99% of my clothing comes from these three stores. Luckily, there’s an outlet nearby and 99% of my GAP/Banana Republic/Old Navy clothes come from the outlet. See? Thrifty.
Craft Stores I’m not really crafty, but damn if I don’t try.
Bookstores Luckily my weakness is for used bookstores, and PaperBackSwap has filled that void. I haven’t bought a new book in months. According to their handy calculator, I’ve saved $171 since signing up. Yippee!
Target Specifically, The Dollar Spot. How can you pass up mugs, coat hangers, travel blankets, or Jiffy Pop for only a dollar? You can’t. You just can’t.
Etsy It’s linked to my PayPal account. Two clicks and anything I want is paid for. Diamond earrings, homemade marshmallows, and a vintage spider pin are my most recent purchases. All totally unnecessary, but the urge to purchase was overwhelming.
Vacations I must go on vacation every six months. It’s nonnegotiable. But if I may toot my own horn, I’m quite skilled at finding travel deals, like theseĀ Gap Adventures Coupons. Our recent trip to Austin (airfare, hotel, and rental car) was under $600 and our upcoming trip to Disney (airfare, hotel, park tickets, and food) will be under $1,000. I should have been a travel agent.
Petstores Our dog is unbelievably spoiled. Toys, treats, clothes, beds – he has it all. I don’t know what it makes me so happy to buy him things – he’s just as grateful for a bowl of kibble as he is for a pupcake (that’s gourmet doggie cupcakes for you sane pet owners).

You might have noticed an increase in ING deposit – that’s thanks to my recent raise and couponing.
My husband made a remark that my couponing is going to bankrupt us, so to prove him wrong I opened another ING account and whenever I save money on necessities (groceries, toiletries, cleaning supplies) by using coupons, I transfer that money to savings.
I think he’s going to be quite surprised at the end of the year when I show him exactly how much couponing has saved us in four months.

Last week, the Red Chair Confessions finally gave us the scoop that Talbots is revamping their look and offering sleeker, trendier fashions. I’m a clothes horse without the budget to match, so lets just pretend for a few minutes that I have $500 to spend at Talbots on new fall clothes.
The first thing I would buy is a snappy new jacket, and I’m absolutely in love with this sweater jacket. It’s perfect for laying with tshirts, blouses, and turtle necks. That’s why I need it in red berry and palamino. When I know what I like, I need it in multiple colors.
Next I’d buy a good pair of denim trousers. I can wear them for work and casual, and they are super comfy with a wider leg and bandless waist. No muffin top!
That leaves me with a little money for this cotton sateen shirt in green, a pique knit tee in tigerlilly, and finally the jewel-print shirt in red berry.

Not too shabby for just $500, eh? Now, if only I could get my hands on $500 of fun money!
If something at the new and improved Talbots has caught your eye, make sure to enter to win a $100 Talbots gift card on my other blog!

A Great Day -

Today was a GREAT day.
After tackling a stack of new work on my desk, my boss called me into his office for an impromptu meeting where he gave me a bonus and a raise!
There were also talks of a year end bonus!
Since we’re in the thick of saving for a home, I immediately set up an ING direct deposit for the amount of my raise every payday. I also deposited my bonus and it’s going directly to pay down a balance on a credit card.
Yes – today was a great day.

Oh, and if you become a fan of the LG Bliss on Facebook, you can enter for a chance to win your very own LG Bliss!
