I am not a fan of filing Chapter 7 as a form of debt relief, because I think a lot of people see it as an easy way out. They throw their hands up in the air, wave a white flag, and all debt is forgiven in their eyes.

If bankruptcy truly is the only solution to your debt problem, do your research and make sure that you are filing the correct kind of bankruptcy and that you understand the repercussions to your credit and financial future. Bankruptcy laws very by state, so make sure to get a local bankruptcy attorney to help you though the filing.

Once you complete your bankruptcy claim, make sure to get your financial life by on track by keeping a budget, making payments on time, and not repeating the behaviors that got you into financial trouble in the first place.
