I’m watching Nancy Grace, and she is speaking to the parents of a college girl who drank herself death on her 21st birthday. If that weren’t tragic enough, the parents are now sueing their daughter’s friends (who made sure she got home safely, laid her on her side so she wouldn’t choke on her own vomit, and checked on her first thing in the morning) for her death on the basis that they set out to get her intoxicated…also known as celebrating her 21st birthday.

Instead of blaming someone else for their daughter’s death, the parents need to come to terms with the fact that their daugher was responsible for her own actions and knew the consequences, especially consdering that the girl has 2 underage DUI’s on her record.

There are no good samaritan requirements in our judicial system, and even if there were, the girl’s friends did what they thought was appropriate to make sure that she was taken care of properly. I’ve helped friends home after a few drinks, and I’ve had friends help me home, but my family would never expect someone else to be responsible for my actions.

This is what happens when parents don’t teach their children responsibility and recognize substance abuse problems! What is that money going to for them that could make up for their daughter’s death? What point is this lawsuit going to prove?
