I feel sorry for pennies. They’re always getting tossed aside and talked down to. Unfortunately, with good reason; pennies just aren’t a viable form of currency anymore. It’s been swell, little penny! We’ll miss you.

Well, that’s just sad! We always throw our pennies (and other loose change) in a huge pickle jar. Once or twice a year, we take it to the bank and cash it in. It adds up quickly and it’s nice to get a little bonus cash on hand. Plus, have you ever heard the saying, “find a penny pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck”…my kids love that!

It’s really interesting that there’s no anticipated impact on prices of charitable giving if the penny is retired. I say we go for it!
Last time I paid in pennies, I was ordering fifty cent books from the book order form in second grade. These days, I hardly ever carry cash in any form. Long live the debit card!

Tina – I hardly ever carry cash, either, but I’m trying to make a point of it. I’m more conscious of my budget with cash.
