What’s your grocery budget per person in your household? I’m having a very hard time getting a grip on a grocery budget and think that ours tends to inflate far beyond what is appropriate.

We did major grocery shopping yesterday (including spices, condiments, and baking ingredients which should last quite some time) and expect our purchases to last us until next payday.

Working in the food industry and talking with clients, they are anticipating an additional increase at the grocery store of 15% by the end of the year and are adjusting their budgets accordingly. I know out budget can’t take a 15% hit on groceries right now, so I’m trying to tighten things up. It’s bad enough that we don’t have the extra money for Pigeon Forge cabin rentals, but to not have enough for groceries is unacceptable and bad budgeting.

We spend between $50-$70 every week on groceries. Per person…not sure. But between the two of us – it is what I stated above. Some weeks can be much less but that is our average.

Thanks, Stacy. That looks to be about our average, too. Hard to believe we eat $400 worth of groceries every month!

Thanks for stopping by, Karrine. Groceries are such a necessity, and I know there are ways to slim the budget, but I’m so used to buying certain foods that it’s hard to make those changes.
