If your mailbox is full of credit card applications, and they are all too tempting to pass up, then opt out. Adding your name to the list means you won’t be solicited for credit cards, auto loans, and other such products. The online form lets you opt out for five years, while the snail mail form lets you opt out permanently.

I find the credit card solicitations useful at times. I’m a balance transfer kind of girl (with Suze Orman’s blessing), and it’s saved me loads of cash, and I wouldn’t know about those opportunities unless I checked my mail.
